Events
The Discovery
pack is a mixed pack of both Girls and Boys
between the ages of 7year and 11years.
We have 5 Sixes
at the moment, Black, Tawny, Grey, White &
Blue. Our numbers stand at 25 invested Cubs and
5 recruits.
We have 5 Pack
Scouters, Akela (Mary Hagens), Kim (Alison
Powell), Bagherra (Penny Harris), Baloo (Stuart
Veal) and Chil (Terence Vrugtman) all the
leaders in the pack get Jungle Book
names.
The Cub Trail is
split into age groups. Cheetahs 7-8 years,
Leopards 8-9 years, Lions 9-10 years and
Leaping Wolfs 10 - 11
years.
In between doing
their Advancement work, they also work on
getting Interest badges there are a great many
to choice from. We try and encourage the Cubs
to at least try and work on as many badges as
they can.
This year we are
going to try and get the Pack to do as many
outings as possible and also to hold another
Pack Camp towards the end of the
Year.
Over the weekend
of the 21-22 February we held a most successful
camp at Gilwell, there were 19 Cubs on camp and
we had 3 day visitors come in to join us as we
are only able to take cubs over the age of 9
years camping. Our theme was Robinson Crusoe.
We had two great cooks cooking for us and
nobody says they went hungry over the week
end.
At the BP Parade
on the 22nd
February
the pack was rewarded a Silver Star Pack
Certificate. It was only our numbers
which stopped us from getting a gold star
as we needed 24 cubs in the pack over the
year and we had only 22
cubs.
Akela & Kim
will be attending the bi-annual Pac Yac over
the 20-22 March at the Full Gospel Church
Camping Grounds in Irene, these are great
weekends were a lot of new ideas are exchanged
and a lot of fun is held.
